Scholarships

The Columbia Institute is committed to lifelong learning that benefits all segments of society. At Columbia, we recognize that the skyrocketing cost of education makes it difficult to return to the classroom for retraining and skills upgrading. That's why we've posted the following scholarship opportunities:

  • Allan Thomas Fellowship – The Carold Institute offers this fellowship, valued at up to $60,000, and awarded each year to a leader in the NGO/non-profit sector who would not normally have access to a sabbatical leave.
  • David Podworny Memorial Scholarship -This bursary valued at $1,000 per year is intended for those studying or planning to study Telecommunications Trades and Labour Studies at accredited public institutions in British Columbia (Canada) or Washington State (United States).
  • Dennis McGann Bursary – This one-time bursary, worth up to $1,000 is designed for those studying or planning to study Communications who demonstrate a commitment to the issues and actions affecting working people.
  • TWU, USW Local 1944 Scholarship – The TWU, USW Local 1944 offers one-time educational grant consisting of four scholarships valued at $1000 each and three scholarships valued at $750 each to children of active union members graduating from high school.
